Welcome to Teddy and Belle...
I live and work on Sydney's beautiful Northern Beaches. It truly is one of the most special places in the world. I have so many fond memories here from my childhood up until today.
When my first child was born, in 2002, I decided to become a photographer. Over the years I took several small steps and some giant leaps to make that happen. During my studies, I decided to work in many different genres of photography.. "I'm going into advertising!", then "I'm going to work for National Geographic and travel the world!", then "I want to go into war zones and tell the important stories!"
A few years later, with some maturity, and while looking upon my second son's sweet newborn face. I discovered my important story. I was lucky enough to marry my best friend and I have two equally beautiful, opposite, unique, quirky, challenging, inspiring sons.
They are works of Art, and I made them. Ok, with a bit of help.
There is no moment greater or more pivotal in a persons life than the birth of their child. It should be celebrated. It will be remembered. These tiny perfect beings are only this tiny and perfect for such a brief period of time. We need to capture it.
These are the photographs that you will look at when your baby starts school, turns 21, gets married and has their own babies. This is what I keep in my mind when working with you.
I completed my BA majoring in Photography and graduated top of my class. I continue to learn as much as I can about the industry and my chosen genre. I take yearly workshops and have learned from internationally awarded Newborn and Portrait photographers. Why? Because it matters.
Newborn photography is completely different to any other form of photography and as a result requires a particular set of skills. Yes, it's important to continue to grow and change and learn. If we don't we can get left behind. Yes, you want your photographs to be beautiful, timeless and pure. But first and foremost, you need to trust that your baby is in the safest hands. Why? Because they are your important story.
Breathe it all in.
